If you live in the colder parts of the world, spring is just around the corner. The snow has melted, the days are getting longer, and you can almost smell the fresh cut grass. A new season also means new clothes! If you are anything like me, you can’t wait till the stores stock up the new frocks and change their window displays to entice you in buying their latest looks. The following is a list of what to look for when buying your new spring garments.
Sportswear has been getting hotter and hotter over the last couple of years. It is even acceptable to wear at work, if paired correctly. Now, please don’t go out and buy the first track suit you find at Walmart, you need to carefully choose your pieces and match them well with staple items you already have in your wardrobe. A zip-up nylon sweater matched with a dark denim and clean white shoes, or drawstring trousers worn with your favorite print shirt and a great structured bomber jacket.
I know pink is a color and not a style, but it is the hottest color of the season. Sadly, pink does not suit everyone, including me, however there are many ways you can include this bold choice in your wardrobe. If you are adventurous or used to dressing with color, I recommend a great pink jacket or suit. If you are new with color, I recommend a t-shirt, or even a pair of light pink pants, that way it will not mess with your complexion.
I love prints, of all kinds and sorts! A check is a great way to include a print without looking like you are wearing your grandmother’s curtains (which by the way, I love). A check is a very masculine print that brings dimension and texture to a fabric. Wear it in a full suit, a great trench coat, pants or just a dress shirt and you’ll look like a million bucks!
Neutrals have always been around, but they are usually paired with some king of color or print. This season, try pairing different neutrals together; beige, brown, white, black, etc. Put together properly, you will look very sharp and as a plus, they are all items you will be able to match with many other pieces in your wardrobe. I suggest you invest more in neutral clothing as you will want them to last a long time.
I do realize you can wear a printed t-shirt for any season but this spring, designers will be producing them like hot cakes. You can wear them with almost anything; jeans, trousers, blazer, bomber jacket, the list is endless. Try to find something that matches your personality or find a local artist who prints t-shirts. You can also load up on kitschy t-shirts and have fun with it.
